Wearing Clothes That Are Too Baggy or Too Tight

One of the most common fashion mistakes that age people is wearing clothes that do not fit properly. Clothes that are too baggy can make you look shapeless and older, while overly tight clothes can highlight areas you might prefer to downplay and create an uncomfortable, strained look.

Sticking to Dull or Outdated Prints & Accessories

Colors have a strong impact on how youthful or aged you appear. Wearing dull, muted, or overly dark colors all the time can drain your complexion and add years to your look. Black is too predominate in most adult wardrobes. The “little black dress” will always be a classic, but dressing as if you are in constant mourning appears depressing and dated. Incorprate fresh vibrant colors to complenment your eyes and skin tone. Opt for lighter shades like pastels or warm neutrals to brighten your face. Depend on timeless patterns such as stripes, polka dots or plaids.

Accessories can either modernize or date your outfit. If in doubt ask your grandkids!

Layering is a great way to add depth to your outfit, but too many layers or bulky coats can overwhelm your frame and add visual weight, making you look older. You do not want to be mistaken for a homeless person who is wearing everything they own

Invest in classic yet modern shoe styles like loafers, ankle boots, or clean white sneakers. Keep shoes in good condition; worn-out footwear ages your look. Even the best clothes can age you if they look worn or unkempt.

Regularly launder and press your clothes.

Absolute no-nos!

Check clothing for stains, realize your eyesight is not as sharp as it was only a few years ago. Wearing last weeks lunch on your shirt is a classic old person mistake

Make sure body parts are not exposed - No one wants to see your belly hanging out from under your shirt. Make sure your shirt is long enough and may need to tuck it in your pants to prevent exposure. Missing or missed buttons also show skin. Likewise elastic waisted pants can slip down and lead to unintended “showing of thy ass”. Short shirts, short shorts, baggy shorts, billowing skirts and oversized shirts may cause x-rated scenes in a strong breeze.

Hair needs to be clean and combed, (front and back), nails should be trimmed and clean. Teeth brushed, flossed and a quick mirror check to ensure there are no reminants of your last meal or snack.

No fuzzy slippers or pajamas in public, unless you are wanting to appear on the latest facebook session of “Walmart Shoppers”.
